Who can submit an abstract?
If you are a postgraduate student from the School of Applied Human Science you may submit an abstract. Masters and PhD students are encouraged to submit their abstracts and Honours students are invited to attend as guests. However, abstracts from Honours students will also be reviewed if submitted.
How do I submit my abstract?
Step 1: Prepare an abstract (related to this year’s theme) of no more than 500 words (A sample abstract can be found on page 2)
Step 2: E-mail your abstract to sahsabstracts@ukzn.ac.za by 8 September 2014.
Step 3: Your abstract will be reviewed.
Step 4: If your abstract is selected you will be sent an invitation to present by 20 September 2014.
Can I still attend if I’m not presenting any research?
Yes, all postgraduate students and academics from the School to attend. Guests are invited to listen to presentations, browse stands and to meet and interact with one another, presenters, members of the organising committee, academics and visiting professionals. RSVP to sahsabstracts@ukzn.ac.za as soon as possible.
Do I have to pay anything?
No, the conference and shuttle is free.
I am from the Pietermaritzburg campus, have the organisers arranged transport to help me get to Howard College and back?
Yes, there will be a shuttle to transport students from the PMB campus to Howard College on the day of the conference (Friday, 3 October 2014). The shuttle will depart from the PMB Psychology Building (Golf Road) promptly at 7am and return at 6pm. Transport is free. RSVP to 207518399@stu.ukzn.ac.za by 22 September 2014.
What is the symposium?
A discussion session will held after the Students’ Conference which will be led by a panel of journal editors and technical advisors speaking on the process of publication.
Who can attend the symposium?
Honorary appointees, chairpersons, staff members and presenters may attend the symposium.
