COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
- (2021), Providing Rape Survivors with Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and Psychological Support to prevent long term HIV Acquisition
The project is led by Prof Naeemah Abrahams from the South Africa -Medical Research Council. It involves adapting a psycho-social intervention developed by the WHO to be administered by lay workers to women that have experienced sexual trauma. I contribute to the material adaptation process as well as providing emotional support to the lay counsellors
- (2019 – current), Southern African Research Consortium for Mental Health Integration
The project is led by Prof Inge Petersen from the UKZN Centre for Rural health. I am one of the consultants on the programme and support capacity building interventions geared towards equipping Department of Health Stakeholders with skills integrate evidence-based task-sharing mental health interventions into routine practice in primary health care facilities. We also develop psycho-education material and training resources for the public and for healthcare workers specifically.
